Jarret Nagy
MS Student (nagyj22@students.ecu.edu)

Jarrett is a graduate student at ECU in the Medical Physics Master’s Program. He previously studied at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC and got his BS in Physics and Medical Physics. At Presbyterian College I played NCAA Division 1-AA football for 4 years and started every game except for the last four in my career. At Presbyterian College I did research on braiding machines and modeling their functions. He is a proud member of the North Carolina Army National Guard.

Yara Maayah
PhD Student (maayahy20@students.ecu.edu)

Yara is a graduate student in the Biomedical Physics program here at ECU. After earning her BS in Physics with an emphasis in Biophysics from Cal Poly Pomona, she attended San Diego State University where she earned her MS in Medical Physics and completed research investigating the DNA damaging effectiveness of ionizing radiation. She aspires to use her passion and knowledge of physics to find clinical solutions in cancer treatment. Her other interests include calligraphy, music, and physics outreach work.

Sam Minier
MS Student (miniers22@students.ecu.edu)

Sam received his undergraduate degree in Physics from Old Dominion University. He has had previous research experience working on liquid surface X-ray incident on gold nanoparticles during my time at Ames National Laboratory. For his senior thesis, he worked on characterizing radial time projection chambers. Ultimately his goal is to pursue a PhD and get ABR board certified after gaining his master’s in Medical Physics.

George Edwards

My name is George Edwards and I’m a medical student at the ECU Brody School of Medicine. I’m interested in specializing in Internal Medicine and pursuing a fellowship in Oncology. I hope my research experiences at the Huarac lab, and formerly at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, will help me stay in tune with the latest cancer nanotechnologies so I can provide the best possible care to my patients.

Sylvia Wang

MD Student (wangsy23@students.ecu.edu)

Sylvia is a medical student at the ECU Brody School of Medicine. She graduated with a BSPH in Nutrition and a BA in Music from UNC Chapel Hill, where she also completed a Senior Honors Thesis on breast cancer metastasis and inflammation. She aims to continue her endeavors in cancer research and therapies to provide better outcomes for patients and to inform her future practice of medicine. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano for others, volunteering, and dancing.
